About Us
Founded in 2020, the Limenitis Free Expression Scholarship was established by the L. Wayne Moss, Jr. Scholarship Fund to provide scholarships for young, inquisitive scholars who have a thirst for knowledge, and a belief in the importance of free speech. The scholarship fund was founded in honor of Lyle Wayne Moss, Jr.
Wayne Moss started in humble beginnings and became a prolific writer, small business owner, caretaker, and a carpenter. He traveled the United States extensively, was a keen observer of people, and had a heart for mentoring the young. Wayne spent his free time learning. From biology to zoology to physics, he was a man who read and absorbed information in order to expand his understanding of humanity and the world in which we live. Wayne believed in free speech, and fought against censorship, even self-censorship.
“To me, there’s nothing more important than learning, not so you can pass some sort of test, just learning for the sake of it.” - L. Wayne Moss, Jr.
